Is it smeared on, or dripped on?

The other day I noticed somehow someone had dripped oil onto the hood of my car, it had actually been there a couple days. (I car pool and thus don't drive my car every day). I simply took a paper towel and blotted it up, came off so problem. The trick is not to smear it around, but carefully blot it all up.

If it's stubborn and wont come off easily, a paint cleaner, like Meguiar's Body Scrub, will for sure take it off. Actually, it's a good idea to have at least one kind of cleaner available at all times for these kinds of situations.

LOL...I've spilled an entire gallon of oil on my Civic (don't ask ). I just washed the car with Dawn (heavily concentrated) and it all came off. I then re-zaino'd and have had no paint trouble since.

suprisingly enough the cheap spray on 1 step
waxes do a very good job of taking off oil that has been smeered into the paint.
