977 springs...to much presure?
the 977 springs to much presure for a hydralic roller, and crush the lifter. the reason i ask because i think i want a little biger spring than the 987.
i will be going with a 847or the 306 or a little bigger custom grind cam, havent decided.

thank you what maching was requiered to make them fit if any. and would the same locks (611-16) and retainers (740-16) for the 986s work with the 977s and what is the recommended install heighth
thanks.
thanks.
IMO you really need to decide what cam you're going to run and then worry about finding an appropriate spring.
That aside, I think if you have a lifter like the cc875's (like Chris above), and good oil pressure you'd probably be okay. For a cam like the 847 etc. though I've ran a 985 comp spring @ ~1.800" to 7000 with a fairly heavy Ferrea 6k 2.00" x 4.960" valve without issues. If you're thinking of running something more harsh like the 3100 series XE stuff, then I'd lean towards a 'lil more spring & a better pushrod.
