Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

My 95 Hawk put down 360 cam only on mid length headers (here comes in Dan about Macs).

322 isnt hard to believe. It is possible that there was a fluke, but calling people liars is childish. If you werent there, then you cant really say.

The pacesetters are great headers and with his mods, the numbers seem a little high, but not beyond reason. Maybe he was on a good set of plugs. Maybe he was running thinner oil. Maybe his A/F was DEAD on and his timing happened to be perfect.

FWIW.... I have seem plenty of cars do ALOT more than people would expect. Ive seen stock casting LT1s put down 500+ rwhp, but people would call me a liar on here because its not the norm. Is it so hard to believe that it made 12 more HP than expected? Ive seen plenty of bolt on LT1s put down 310.

I was suprised as much as anyone.. They did replace the plugs and wires and on the dyno the Air filter was removed.

Tony@HP
How many are making dyno runs with the air filter removed? why are you doing this? Whould you do this at the track?

Gotta love them MAC's. Did you ever make it to the track with the cam and Mac's?

I have to disagree about 322 not being hard to believe though. You've seen lots of results on this board, as have I, and even the very best results don't come within 15-20 rwhp of 322 rwhp with the mods listed. Especially when you consider that his stock numbers are right on, how in the world is someone goig to gain 73 hp from headers and catback? That's a 25% gain from stock!!!!!!

I'm not hating here at all. I'm not jealous, hating, or mad. I know my mods and my track times, and it all adds up. Something with this dyno run does not add up.

BTW, plugs wires don't make any more HP if the stockers were fine. On a good running motor, changing wires won't matter. Yeah, having the air filter removed is pretty weird. Seems as though someone was trying to get good #'s rather than find out what the car is really putting out. Anything else done to throw off the dyno results?

Dan

I would have to see to believe, also see what it does at the track. @ 322 RWHP that car should behave like it is running high 12'son the 1/4. Most Lt1 owners that have posted on these messsage boards LS1tech, LT1tech and here, most have claimed 300 RWHP with full bolt ons ( give or take 7 hp).

Disco192 Also 500 RWHP on stock casting heads thats a little hard to swallow. I have a freind with a fully built 408 LS1 doing 520 RWHP

Well I know a guy running a little over 12:1 with a SR single plane pushing 500 wheel through stock castings in a 396.

I also have a friend pushing 496 rwhp through a 383 C5 running on a LS6 intake and stock TB.

This is all in Texas.

I don't understand why most of you do not believe this claim. You need to take into consideration that most of the big numbers are coming from Texas and Florida. They count differently there.

Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

I think this post has officialy turned UGLY

Again i will say if you make a claim like 60+HP from headers there better be LOTS of factual information to back it up or just dont post until your ducks are in a row.

If it truly made that kind of gain then congrats; but understand that it is totaly off the chart and must be backed for this reason alone.

If I posted that my bone stock LT1 whooped a bone stock LS1 at the track without showing slips I would expect to be challenged. Its the same thing happening here.

Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

I say heck with the CA smog requirements. I'm selling the SLPs and
getting a set of Pacesetter longtubes because I'm ready for 370+ rwhp.

This will save me lots of headaches with head porting, a bigger cam,
bigger injectors, etc. I'll just have to find a smog station I can pay off.

One problem could be that I already have an ultraflow muffler, so maybe
I'll only gain 30-40 rwhp with the longtubes. Damn, just had to burst my
bubble.

Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

"Disco192" claim of 500 rwhp on and LT1 in not out of reason...A mechanical roller and raised compression can do wonders to ported LT1 heads, especially if your using a singleplane!!!

The 60+ horse power from those mods just ain't going to happen...I have installed way to many headers/cat back over the years to know this from the good old dyno...However a poorly running (eg. rich condition or clogged Cat, bad plugs) car to one running clean can have a major horse power change... for sure the big horse power jump did not get this from the Header/Cat back install alone...

Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

I seen a guy, personally, with dyno sheet in his hand dyno 335.5X HP/ 349 TQ with a COMPLETE bolt on LT1 it did have everything though.

58MM. TBB, Ported INtake, 1.6's LT4 SL&R's, Pulleys, CSI, Descreened & Ported MAF, Some Elbow, 160* Stat, Shorties, True 2.5" duals, H Pipe, I THINK dynomax mufflers, MADZ28Tune, AFPR, 4.10's, Lighter Rims( I forget what?) plus a ton of other non-power adding mods that should definantly help to insure optimal results ... It had top notch plugs wires, new opti, new fuel pump. Basically it was a immaculately clean car, with damnb near every bolt on. But it DID put down 335 RWHP on stock heads, stock cam, just a bolt on car. I about **** myself when I seen his dyno. It was in 65* weather and was pretty low hunmidity. I dont bash anyone for their claims. Congrats on the good numbers. Hope it wasnt a fluke, Good luck.

Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

lol

There is a dyno shop up here that will give you an extra 30rwhp on a dyno sheet if you buy there $70.00 Royal Purple oil change!

Sounds like thats what he did.

I have one of the highest dyno numbers on lt1 heads full bolt-on's
327hp - 350 tq

There is one other guys on here with a 96 SS with the LT4 heads full bolt-on's and he did 329 hp -350tq

I call bs, maybe not the car but the dyno.
