97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

My roommate recently had some Pacesetter LT's(emissions headers) and the ORY, and a Dynomax Ultraflow muffler(single in/dual out) installed on his otherwise stock car a few months back. He decided today to put it on the dyno for ****s and grins just to see how much he picked up.

With the car BONE stock it made 258hp/297tq, after the Pacesetter install it made 322/360. Nothing else was touched on the car. No tune, ABSOLUTELY no other bolt-ons. Am I the only other person amazed that a set of cheap headers made 64 RWHP on a stock 100k mile LT1?

Seems a bit hard to believe. Track times would be a plus.

Same dyno used in both test (before and after install)?

Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

Yeah, that's about 30 rwhp and 40 rwtq higher than normal. Not to be a jerk, but I don't believe it. Sorry.

Stock #'s look right though. I normally figure 255 rwhp, 290 rwtq for a stock M6 LT1. With the slightly better intake and exhaust of the SS, his numbers are right on for the stock run.

Do you have his dyno chart to show? What did it show for the temp, atm. pressure, and humidity?

Did he by chance convert the numbers to flywheel HP and flywheel TQ? If so, then his numbers would be right for his mods.

I just dont know what to say here other than we better hope they dont make these headers for the LS1. They would most certainly make 400HP on a bone stock engine. I defintely want to burn my car now and get a Civic type R.

Re: 97 SS M6 dyno numbers...

It was done at HP, Sharmond. You KNOW Tony's not going to lie on an LT1. As far as everyone calling BS, I was there for both the stock pulls and the pulls after the exhaust was installed. It made the power. Temp was about 94*, just a wet, sunny day in NE Florida. LS1's usually make around 330-340 with just exhaust, why is it so hard to believe that an LT1 is about 10hp less?

I've seen all the dyno threads where someone post's high numbers and everyone calls BS. I didn't actually think one that I started would would turn into one of those. LOL

Were plugs and wires changed to? That may account for some of the gain and also tell us more about how much power it was down originally than how much was gained.

That's why I state track times would be a plus. Doesn't matter if the same dyno is used. It's nothing more than a measuring tool and can go out of whack just the same as if it were dynoed at a different place.

Because the LS1 alot more powerful without any internam mods. If anyone believes those numbers I feel sorry for them. Or that car has ported heads or a mild cam and no one knows. My car made 303rwhp with just boltons back when it was an auto, but when I put a cam in a year later I found some ported heads on my car, so anything is possible.
