How many stock timing set failures are you aware of?
I've been collecting parts to rebuild my best friend's 94 LT1...because the the timing chain broke. It was stock internally.

Because of that failure, we decided the best route to go was to convert the car to a vented opti, (already had an EWP) and get a Progear timing set from Bret.

I will have a hard time trusting a stock timing set ever again.

So there is ONE failure being attributed to weakness in all the years I have frequented LT1 specific forums. ONE does not make a pattern it could easily be a factory flaw.

It's the only one that I have ever seen break. Hell I ran a stock timing set on my 96 with a hotcam for over 100k before I took it out for a rebuild. It was still fine even then.

But seeing just one break was enough for me.
