396 is in/running WOW!

Ok well after my winter buildup, and such it is finally in and complete. Goes as following:
forged srp 12:1 compression pistons
forged bottom end/splayed 396
gm 847 cam
1.6 pro mags
stage II fully ported lt1 casting heads 2.00/1.56 valves
dynatech 1 3/4 longtubes
slp CAI

Overall seems to be running fairly well for not being tuned at all.
problems that i've noticed so far.
-Idle is around 2000 rpms, it'll start up and idle around 1500, then climb to about 2000 and idle around there for the rest of the runtime.
-is it possible that the drill hole for my n2o shark nozzle being open right now is messing w/ the idle?

I'm runnign the 24lb/injectors right now, because when i put the 42.5#'s in it really didnt wanna run very well because i figure its not tuned for them yet and just fouling the plugs.

What kind of numbers do you guys think i'll be able to put down after i get it dynotuned.
NA and then also on a 150 nx wet shot.

Thanks for the help..

Nick

If you have the hole drilled after the MAF sensor That is unmetered air and will make your car add more fuel. Do to the extra air that it is seeing at the O2 sensors. As far as it messing with the idel with the car running I would cover the hole up and see if that helps. Also are you running pump gas?
Good luck to you.

I wish my 383 build up went as well as yours.

the hole itself is drilled and tapped after the filters before the maf. I currently didnt even have the o2's on the car, which could possibly be contributing to my high idle? as far as an easy build up, well it took about 7 months, and after all was said and done by the machine shop and engine shop that built the motor, i had a messed up head gasket on the drivers side, i noticed on sunday, spent all day monday pulling the heads and intake back off as well as the lt's and some other accessories, replaced the head/intake gaskets and now it seems to be running top notch. and yes the car is on pump gas.. 93

thanks,

Nick

Is the coolant temp sensor hooked up? The PCM needs that to set idle speed.

Is the IAC control hooked up? Have you checked that the throttle stop screw is not out too far? Have you used a scanner to check the IAC "counts"? Is the TPS sensor closed throttle voltage within specs (0.20-0.90V)?

No way it was going to even attempt to run with 42# injectors.... you were just washing the lube off the cylinder walls.

And finally, this is pretty much "LT1 Tech"... moving it there.

As far as the IAC and Coolant temp sensor, they are both plugged in. I cannot read anything off of my pcm because my laptop keeps giving me problems with the cable and all, i needed to buy the serial to usb adapter, and its not working so im confused as to how to get it to read or work.
