2 bolt or 4 bolt?
this topic seems to come up ever week, You should be fine with studs, thats what i did on my 383 all forged, with 150-200 shot and the shop that did the work on the block siad it would be fine, and if you read super chevy they have a 406 with studs and they where saying it will be fine, and the 2 bolt is stronger than the 4 bolt conv. (not splayed) and think on how much h.p people are putting out on 2 bolt blocks with 4 bolt cap conv. SPLAYED mains is over kill in less you are pushing like 30psi or spraying 350 shot,
You can't be safe, that being said I am on 2 bolt mains with mid 500 rwhp.
Most of the time though that is through a progressive controller, so the initial shock on everything is small.
Maybe its just me but I feel like the progressive shot is easier on everything.
