2 bolt or 4 bolt?

I will be running a 6''rod 381 with ported heads le4 cam and all of the bolt ons. My question is how much HP will a 2 bolt hole up to? I will be spraying probly 200 shot and will probly have about 620-640HP at the wheels.

Go with a splayed main caps, I think that would be best for your set up, I'd say a 2blt can with stand 500-550n/a horse power but it's a different story with the juice more stress on the motor.

2 or 4 bolt you at least want billet caps. especially with the mannerisms of nitrous. i've read and heard way too many arguments to decide which one is better for any specific build. for my application (SR 396) i am going w/ splayed just out of personal choice.

yeah, they worked fine with a 150 shot.(know from personal experience)on a bone stock motor, I dont see why an extra 50shot would hurt esp with the added protection of the studs.

had a friend w/ a 383 on a 100 shot who screwed up a cam bearing, we pulled the engine apart and all except the outer main caps were broken in half. on a motor w/ stock stroke it may be fine. a stroker motor will create more cylinder pressure which will create more pressure on the crank and with a hard hitting shot of nitrous the caps may not stand a chance.

There's a world of difference between a stock motor on a 150 shot and a LE4 setup on a 200 shot. I'd use studs on a stock rebuild. With wht your doing I'd install splayed 4bolt caps. You can NEVER go too strong on the bottom end.

about 400 maybe more depending on who does it to splay and fit the caps to the block and I think 140 to line hone it...plus parts.

this topic seems to come up ever week, You should be fine with studs, thats what i did on my 383 all forged, with 150-200 shot and the shop that did the work on the block siad it would be fine, and if you read super chevy they have a 406 with studs and they where saying it will be fine, and the 2 bolt is stronger than the 4 bolt conv. (not splayed) and think on how much h.p people are putting out on 2 bolt blocks with 4 bolt cap conv. SPLAYED mains is over kill in less you are pushing like 30psi or spraying 350 shot,
