1997 trans am lt1 ignition fuse blew twice today HELP!
The car cant run without power to the coil and icm. How is this possible?
Its funny you say this because since i took my car out this spring my aftermarket alarm fab did not work. . . So i took off the negative to the actual speaker to the alarm and wrapped it with electric tape till i cant take it back. . . Why would you mention that?
Re: 1997 trans am lt1 ignition fuse blew twice today HELP!
So instead of bringing up a new thread i figured id start this back up. .
To make a long story short, my TA has been in storage for 2 years. I live in NY so i can only drive it 4 months out of the year. I had some personal issues last summer, but i'd like to get my car running again. I've been reluctant to register my car because im afraid im going to have to put some decent money into it if it is not just the Cam position sensor.
If anyone has had a similiar problem and can shed some light that would be awesome, i miss this forum and most importantly my 97 lt1 . . .

Re: 1997 trans am lt1 ignition fuse blew twice today HELP!
So 2 years later and did you remove the alarm system? It can cause all kinds of weird problems. We bought a used Durango in 2002. In 2010 the alarm system that we didn't even know was installed, caused starting problems.
Did you track down any other devices on the same circuit?
You mentioned before you had a misfire on 5 and 6. but mentioned the CKP???? Not sure how you cam to the conclusion that since you had a misfire on 5 & 6 that the CKP was bad????????
You do realize the CKP has nothing to do with the engine running right? It merely monitors the engine for misfires.
