Cool 1994 lt1 rebuild

Hi, i posted before saying that my eninge had a knock and whatnot and i am now very sure it is a main bearing so i am defonitially rebuilding this thing.

just for reference it is a 1994 lt1 from a camaro z28 with the stock transmission however it was just rebuilt by the owner before me im assuming it was a stock rebuild. also the car has 172k on the body and engine. here is my question. since summit doesnt offer a full rebuild kit that includes piston rods and a crank i am just gunna pick parts out of their kit that i need and i am getting an eagle rotating assembly from jegs.

so on jegs there are 2 options an i dont know which one i will need there are some small differences between the 2 kits like one is 5cc and the other is 10cc so i was wondering if somebody could clear up what one i will need for me.

#2 http://www.jegs.com/i/Eagle/356/B13403L/10002/-1

also i was wondering if there was any difference between whats in these kits other than the stuff i wont need because the piston heads/ rings/ ect come with the eagle kit.

i am ordering everything from summit except for the heads/ rings or whatnot as i stated earlier. i will still be buying gaskets i was just wondering if anything varies that i should know about.

here are other things im getting for this rebuild let me know if im missing anything.

http://www.jegs.com/i/BBK/129/1567/10002/-1 (cause headers are easier while engine is out)

http://www.elliottsportworks.com/lt1.html (getting the le1 kit with these cams : 226/230 .565/.565 111 LSA. - 1900-6200 RPM
NON-EMISSIONS version of 223/230 cam mentioned above. Mild to choppy idle. Good HP/TQ through out and a very usable power band. Best choice for "most people" using stock bottom end. Minimum 2800 stall and 3.42 gears for B body. Comparable to Comp 467 XFI cam.)

i am also getting the stock gm lifters because from what i have heard they are one of the best.

thank you all for your time and help in advance i really appreciate it.

I may have missed it but are you doing bearings too? Cam Rod Main? I used Clevite 77 Nascar series bearings for my rebuild.

Not a fan of BBK headers, I've always liked Pacesetter LT's best bang for the buck.

yeah the summit pack comes with bearings. ill look into those headers .... not looking to spend too much just looking for something budget thats better than stock

Edit: so i am kinda licking these seeing as they come with gaskets and everything and are cheaper but i am looking for any other opinion on the headers situation. try and keep it under $400 and if any1 else thinks these are better than the bbk let me know

Pacesetters are a good budget header, many of us run them. However getting non coated headers will insure a rusty life and they will look awful after only a short amount of time. I do not know BBK's myself.

Have you looked at Advanced Induction yet? They make some pretty sweet little LT1 rebuilds.. I'm considering going with one of their LT1 "packages" when I get ready to do my 383 swap.. You might want to take a look.

I hope it's not against the rules to post a link like this but http://www.advancedinduction.com/

If you are gonna buy a complete rotating assembly anyways, why not go with a 383?

if you stick stock cube might as well just buy one of those $9xx GM shortblocks, only difference with a new RA between 350/355/383 is you have to clearance the block

the ealge kit comes with clevite bearings and rings

You can get LT coated pacesetter headers from herronperformance.com for $385 shipped. that comes with gaskets and o2 extensions. Definitely best bang for your buck and they are well built. and if i were you, i would put back in the stock o2 sensors until your coated hearder break in then swap them out for a better set, most prefer ac delco. coated headers will mess up o2's until they cook (thats the only word i could think of to describe it), so you dont want to buy new ones jus to mess them up in 500 miles.

thanks for the advise but i done see any difference between the pacesetters and the bbk honestly.

also i am pretty sure that i couldnt find any gm shortblock for only $900 ish. also i looked into doing a 383 but i dont really want to rip apart my tranny.

just an fyi this isnt a track car its a daily drive car and i might take it to the drags a few times to see what i can run also my budget is around $3000. i found a local machine shop that the guy says i might be able to get away with only $300 for what i need but if it might cost about 500.still he thinks it will prob be like 300.

if i did a 383 it would cost me 900 for the rotagting assembly i think i would also need different head gaskets and i would need to spend an estamated $700 at the machine shop instead of 300 so that is something like $1k more when u add it together with the head gasket.

so im doign either stock or 355 right now.

if these are the ones you were talking about i would need to bu the y pipe as well. so i dont see how it is the best value. unless i could just use the stock pipe that is there or is this pipe better in some way?
