112 vs 110 lsa

Ive done some homework on this, but i still want to be sure of my choice. Im 100% set on the 224/230, but im not sure what lsa to go with. Ive ruled out the 114 as an option already. Car is an M6 with full exhaust and most every other bolt on. from what i understand the 110 will probably make about 5 more hp overall. Im shooting for 12s.

Basically I want to know what you would choose given the following:

What I dont mind, and in-fact actually enjoy:
-cam surge
-cam lope
-tendency to stall
-rich exhaust

What I dont like, but will sacrifice within reason
-gas mileage loss

how the car is used
-3k miles a year on average, probably less in the future
-no winters, mostly a weekend/summer "fun" car ... shows etc.
-TNT track days 3-4 times a year, but nothing competitive
-the occasional "rendezvous" at a stoplight
-2 to 4 180 mile trips a year. (all highway)
-Stock heads and I have no plans for headwork in the future(could change but doubtful)

Why not go with a bigger cam if you want all that stuff?

because ill lose torque and more mileage, and only gain about 10hp. I still want to have some bottom and mid.

You'll get the 2nd, and that's about it from a 224/230. Had one for years.

Small cams that do all 4 of those above things are usually untuned.

Put it on a 108*+4* for max power. It will reduce your vacuum a tad but ya should have enough for the brakes.
Ya should go with thinned head gaskets with the 108.

What is the lift? What is the intended rpm range for peak power?

with 1.6 rockers lift is .536/.544 (at least on the 112, im assuming same for 110). I plan to shift about 6100 rpm... a little low, but i wanna keep it in one piece. It should be good for 6500 though from what ive read. Basically I want a lot of mid and peak power (3500-6000), but i dont want to lose all my torque down low either.

I'd recommend the XE227/233 560/569 lift

I loved that cam and made 302/304 with a mail order tune and no supporting mods (Just fuel). That was only revving to 5500 too because I was super lean up top so we stopped the pull. I had it retuned but never had it dynoed. Never noticed a power difference either.

My buddy had that 227/233 cam, and dynoed 355rwhp with all mods and an electric water pump. he and his dad hit 12.5's all day long at 113mph with a good pair of tires, 4.10's, and all necessary bolt-on's, so thats a great cam!

Original poster: He only made 302/304 because he had no supporting mods, so basically with no rockers or headers, thats damn good especially for the rpm.

I would look at getting a custom grind or the 227/233.

ok, that makes alot more sense then. You actually have me interested in the 227/233 though, id like to see a dyno sheet of that. If its not too peaky of a cam i might consider it yet. The 224/230 has a lot of solid positive feedback from what ive seen, havent read much about the 227/233.
