When is it nessacary to?

Change to a different length pushrod? Or is the stock 7.4" ok with most applications. I want to run a 232/232 cam with right around .600 lift will the stock lenght pushrods be okay to run with that?

You should be fine.. Best thing to do as we always recomend it get comp cams pushrod length checker...

http://customssi.com/cart/index.php?...roducts_id=243

Use that make sure 7.4 is what you need (where your heads milled at all or anything?) then order your pushrods...

The only time that you need to worry about pushrod length is if you change base circle diameter on the cam or do head work that changes the length/height of the valvestems.

Most aftermarket cams with higher lift like that have a smaller-than-stock base circle. I believe you can calculate it off of the cam card. Yes you should always measure with a PR length checker. But, most likely a 7.425 pushrod is what you will need if the only change is the cam.
