personally I think a cam is a good thing but best if you do a full cam/head swap but that is alottttt more that $175

It's a very mild cam that'll you'll be lucky to make 410 rwhp with heads/cam (probably around 380ish cam-only)
Figure it'll be an additional $300-400 in parts for the cam swap (springs, retainers, pushrods, ported oil pump, timing set, etc) + labor if you don't do it yourself.

for now I just want something to make decent power with driveability. I plan on an engine swap later on but for now a mild cam would be nice I guess, and 175 is a good price I I guess. Im not really looking at heads anytime soon namely due to the above mentioned swap... I just want a bit more power for now I guess.

if your thinking swap later then it is either probably best to hold off or just put in the minimal $$
curious as to what are you thinking to swap to as I’m in the process myself.. did you see that LS7 swap vid?? that's something I'd love to drop in my fbird but probably would cost a hundred times what I can afford... have heard the LS6 is a little easier to get for a reasonable price as people routinely pull them out of vettes are whatnot that they are upgrading

yea I was thinking that but itle be a year or more before the swap so Im still thinking about it.
Im probly having VRE build my engine:
-VRE 408cid LSx-
Eagle 4.000" Stroke Crankshaft
Compstar 6.125" Connecting Rods
Diamond Shelf Stock Pistons
Diamond Pro-Select Rings
Clevite Connecting Rod Bearings
Clevite Main Bearings
ARP Main Studs
Clevite Cam Bearings
$4599.99
I plan on a supercharger and several other things but the engine should start me off nicely by itself!

It should be in the 380 whp range. Decent mild daily driver. 420 whp with budget ported heads definately isn't unheardof with these cams.
Looking at your mod lists, you could go for a converter and gears which will produce a quicker car than adding a cam.
