Wash the LS1 motor?
Why does the engine have to be on when you are hosing it off? And is this just the engine or the entire engine bay that we are talking about?

Make sure you don't use "Engine Brite" cleaner. It is also made by Gunk. It cleaned most everything pretty well, and put a little shine back in the block too. But it FRIGGING ATE MY AIR LID!!!! The stuff must have something like acetone in it or something. All the composite or relly heat resistnat plastics were ok, but the lid started discoloring as plastics do when they start to dissolve. Don't use it. Use simple green.

I haven't cleaned my LS1 yet but when I did on my old LT1 I used Simple Green and used a full gallon to swish water onto certain areas (vs. a running hose which will splash everywhere). Worked great
