Angry Trans. Problems HELP!!!!

Hello Everyone,
I desperately need help, and was hoping you guys could give me some advice. Last week i installed a B&M shift improver kit in my 1998 Pontiac Trans Am. I finished the installation, and began driving the car, it ran fine, shifted much nicer, and everything worked o.k. . Last night i was on my way home on the highway, and got on it a little bit, to show my buddies how the car ran. It felt like it was hanging up in 3rd gear, so i immediately let off of it. The rest of the way home, the torgue converter would not lock up. The first stop sign i came to, i took off and it would not shift out of first gear, i had to let off the gas, then it shifted, but into 3rd not second. The fluid is full, i just dont understand, how it would work fine for a week, then do this, any help would be greately appreciated
Andy

Also, i just went to summit and bought a TransGo shift kit, but i am not even going to try and install it, before i figure this problem out. However the box says it works on 4l60E's from 93-97, the guy i talked to at summit, said it works on 93-2002, and yet another guy said it will work on all years, but 98-up need to have the PCM reprogrammed, anyone know who is right?
Thanks Again

I am also having transmission problems, but I don't know too much about your problem.

If you haven't tried it already, reset your PCM.

If you don't know how, heres how ya do it:

1) Insert key, and make sure it's in the "on" area

2) Pop hood, and pop out the fuse box cover.

3) Remove the "PCM IGN" and "PCM BAT" fuses.

4) Wait 0-5 minutes

5) Take keys out of ignition

6) Replace fuses, fuse box cover, and close hood.

7) Start the car, if it dies while starting up, no big deal, it is learning itself. Just start it up again.

Hopefully this resolves your problem!

Was it the B&M Shift+ that you bought? If so, you should have done more research before spending money on it as there have been many other people who have destroyed their transmissions from it. Whatever it does, it does not fare well in the 4L60E. The only way to improve shift firmness (other than a TransGo Shift Kit)is through LS1Edit or one of the handheld tuners available for the LS1.

My recommendation is to unhook it from your car and return it to stock and hope that the car works properly. If so, then go ahead with a real shift kit and you should be fine, but stay away from the Shift+.

Thanks for the help guys, but it was a little too late. My Transmission is ****ed. One of the accumulator pistons came out of the bore in the case too far, and shifted on its way back in. It ruined the bore, and there are pieces of the accumulator piston all throughout the transmission. So my next qusetion is this, anyone know where i can get a cheap 4l60E, or a six speed conversion?

I'm thinking it's the tuning, because under normal driving, it brings the revs up to 4000rpm, before it shifts. Only happends in gears 1 and 2 though.

When I go WOT after 40mph, it will downshift from 3rd gear, to 2nd gear. But then it will downshift to 1st gear, making me hit my rev limiter, and making me take my foot off the gas.

Also, it will not shift when I go WOT from a stop anymore. I have to decelerate.

But these symptons started to happen after I changed my fluid/filter. So I am going to get a second opinion

Ditto

They have 17 cars in their transmission shop, so I will try a second opinion. Because this baby is my daily driver

Well I took it to a performance transmission shop, and it turns out that I burned out 2nd gear. They will probably have to drop the tranny, but I am hoping that you don't have that problem
