Wash the LS1 motor?
Wash the LS1 motor?
Another question. I am a newbie to the LS1 world. Been living in the LT1 world for quite a while.
Anyway, I found out a long time ago that I was not supposed to
actually spray water on the LT1 engine, b/c of the opti, ect. So I hand clean it, ect.
What about the LS1? There are so many things under there to clean!! Can you actually spray it w/ a water hose? Or would I get problems?
Thanks

But -
I'd suggest you baggie the idler pulleys - mine always seem to squeal afterwards, and I wind up having to oil them.
It's a short term fix - the one closest to the passenger side top of the motor has been replaced twice already, and is probbaly ready to be done again.
I'll wait 'til the cold weather hits, and the low coolant light acts up again - that way, I get the most bang for my buck w/ the aftermarket extended warranty.
($50.00 per visit deductible.)
Don't give any electronics a direct high pressure blast, and you should be fine.
Note that I am assuming you will be using a garden hose at the house - high pressure car washes are another story altogether.
Later !

And try to avoid spraying water at the bottom of the front of the inlet manifold, where it can get in over the valley plate and corrode the knock sensors. There's a bulletin (02-06-04-023) on applying RTV to prevent this.
yep, wait till the motor is cold. Spray simple green all over the engine and engine bay, start the car and spray it off with the hose. Dont use a direct spray, but a mist, and it will look better than it did when you baught it
If you do spray the motor off with water make sure the car is on before you do so. I do not cover anything up, but don't spray directly into a spot for any particular period of time. By the way I use a foam carpet cleaner before I spray mine off and it works very well. Just thought I would put my 2 cents in.
