Replacing the rack & pinion...

How much work is involved, and what's the difficulty level?

My seals are shot on my unit, so I need to put a new setup in. I've got a fairly decent set of skills, having done all my mods except stall and gears, not to mention I've got unlimited tools at the base hobby shop.

Are there any write-ups out there? Have any of you attempted this?

Re: Replacing the rack & pinion...

pretty easy just unhook the power stearing lines from the rack, undo the stearing colum from the rack, and finnaly unbolt the rack from the frame and slide it out. YOu might have to undo some other things to get the rack out and just revurse to process to get the rack back in. Just remember to take off your outer tire rod ends from your old rack and put them on the new one unless you are planning on putting new ones on. Also make sure the rack is dead center when you go to install it and that the stearing whell is also dead center. And then after you get it all installed and working properly take it to get it aligned.
