Post problem found, but what caused it???

The problem was the lifter on the intake of CYL#3. the noise that i was looking for was there. the roller part of the lifter basically had a chip taken off or it. it was free though. rolling like it should. smoothe surface but there was a really rough spot and it looked like the metal had been chiped off. the cam lobe is fine roteted it and shoothe all the way through the rotation. What could have caused this. im done for the night and ill look at it over more tomm. i loaded the rockers when i first got them 6 monts ago to 1 turn past lash. could this have caused it to do this. im retetting them to 3/4 turn when it is all put back together. let me know what u think thanks
