my friend just bought a T56 for his car and he did the swap from an auto and all that, our question is though since his car is a 98 trans am what should the transmission have stamped on it the transmission is out of a 99 and it is stamped on one spot borg warner and on another part of the transmission it is stamped tremec the reason we are curious as to if something is unusual about this tranny is that his 2nd gear is a lot shorter then other 6spd cars. so if you could just tell me if that stamping is correct for that tranny or did he get a different transmission than whats normal for these cars. so thanks again guy's.

in 99+ the T56 was done by Tremec..

the gearing is the same..

everything is fine
