LS1 Hot cam or TSP 224

Whos got numbers on cam only cars with either one of these cams or who has and experiance with either one of thes cams. I want to use one of these or something else on a stock stalled A4 daily driver.

Do you have to worry about emissions? Is there some other reason you're set on these cams? Also, why do you want to be stock stalled? An aftermarket converter will give you more gains in fun and increased acceleration that one of these cams will.

If you're keeping the stock converter (even a completely stock motor can HUGELY benefit from a 3600+ stall since the LS1 makes peak torque over 4000 rpm), most smaller 224/224 cams will be around the same....You can go slightly bigger if you change your gears instead of your converter (although I'd suggest changing the converter).

Trying to stay away from a converter swap just because I have driven in high stall 3rd gen's and don't like the way they feel on the street and this is what this mostly is is a street car. As for gears don't want to break my rear end, most of my buddies have blown their rear ends out after changing gears and using sticky tires! Waiting till I have more money for the 9in or 12 bolt. The hot cam is out, stuck between the tsp 224r and the 228.

If you're deciding between the 224 and 228 on a stock converter, the choice should be obvious. The 228 won't like the stock converter, and to a point neither will the 224. I've got both a high stalled LS1 and a high stalled 3rd gen, and can tell you the LS1 behaves much better. If you're that worried about driveability to the point that you refuse an aftermarket converter, stop thinking about a cam swap... Getting the higher stall converter will hurt driveability about as much as running one of those cams on the stock converter.

Or run an LS6 or LPE GT2-3 cam.

Gonna try the 224 with stock stall and if I don't like it I think I may throw a small stall at it we will see.

Anything less than a 3200RPM stall is a waste of money. You should be happy with the 224

You can't compare a 3rd gen with a stall to a 4th gen ls1/4l60e with a stall.

It's TOTALLY apples and oranges!
