Re: Loudest Exhaust Setup LS1

i was in the process of putting 3" xpipe and bullets into a true dual setup on my cammed LS1...

then a hurricane interfered.

so i had to have it welded up temporarily with just the xpipe and no mufflers, dumped under the car.

it's insanely loud. too loud if you have neighboors closer than 100ft. highway is tolerable for short distances, but it gets annoying after a while. around town is harsh and raspy...and too loud.

i'm hoping when wilma leaves i can put the bullets on it and it will tone down the harsh sound a bit.

BOOM TUBE = INSANE

I say you go with it but theyre louder than hell and from what i understand not cheap but if you want nascar get a set of longtubes collector extensions maybe an x and the boom tube sys

want loud, want nascar,...my guess is LTs, run the pipes to the side of the car and exit in front of rear tires with that really thin and long exhaust tip they use. Its like 15" long and like 1-2" tall. That would put the loud sound right where you could hear it best.

I have Kooks 1-7/8" Longtubes, 3" X-pipe, and a Borla rear-section that contains just 3" pipe and tips.

Re: Loudest Exhaust Setup LS1

The loudest (and probably the most strangest) I have heard was an LS1 with SLP loudmouth, no cats w/ longtubes and major engine work. It was so loud and had the weirdest and I really mean the strangest tinny sound I have heard come from an 8 cyl. engine.

Bottom Line: It was loud.
