Looking to buy a 2002 SS or Z28 soon. Just need to know what is the loudest meanest setup there is!
Thanx Guys!

Re: Loudest Exhaust Setup LS1
If you're just going to be replacing the factory cat-back, the Loudmouth from SLP is the loudest exhaust on the market.
The exhaust can get louder when you add headers, remove the catalytic converters, install a cutout, etc.
Check out www.ls1sounds.com for detailed exhaust soundclips on LS1-powered cars that are stock and have different exhaust components installed.

Re: Loudest Exhaust Setup LS1
Sounds like you would love the sound of my exhaust on my '98.
I have the following:
Cermaic coated pacesetter long tubes
Custom Y- Pipe with 02 sims
No cats
One Chamber flowmaster
3 inch I think all the way from the headers back
It sounds just like a nascar and can be heard coming from a good ways off

Re: Loudest Exhaust Setup LS1
Absolute loudest, like beyond all reason would be:
LT's, no cats, true duals, that went into seperate resonators, and then into boom tube mufflers on either side. That's two points of sound augmentation. I can only imagine how insane that would be.

Yeah, I have heard a Z28 with LT's just installed but nothing else after the collectors, and I definitely recommend something as close to that as you can get. Like LT's with some straight pipes coming out the back of the collectors and some turndowns after about 18" or so. That's it. And don't get it tuned so it sounds nice and lopey at idle.

NASCARs are open headers, so there ya go.
LM is ok, if you like the crackle of glasspacks. Every time I hear them thats what they remind me of.
True duals will give you the best sound and performance. Run some short sticks or bullet muffs for more volume.

DR. Gas makes them, and they're not street legal for obvious reasons.
