Is it worth the money?

Is it worth the money?
To buy the slp or G2 hi-flow y-pipe? How much of a gain? What about a pacesetter hi-flo converter rather than a random tech converter. They both are about the same price. Does anyine have a Random Tech Catback or an article of an install? Please let me know asap, I want to order by Sat to catch a few sales.

unless it is an offroad Ypipe...replacing the Ypipe is jsut about pointless.
and even changing to an offroad Ypipe with no converters...will probably only gain you about 5hp.
untill you do headers, don't bother.

I agree with the above posts. So who cares that the stock LS1 Y-pipe has a dent in it for clearence. Changing it would only make a difference on a car that is 1,000 hp. Save your money and purchase a high quality set of coated long tubes from FLP, SLP or Pacesetter.

i swaped mine out just for the simple fact that the stock y looks like a bent up coat hanger from the side and it hangs down pretty far so its clearly visible

Re: Is it worth the money?
Only do the G2 or SLP as an appearance mod. It's probably worth .5-1rwhp. Atleast do high flow cats or an o/r Y and you might be looking at 5rwhp on a stock setup. They are expensive and probably not worth it either until you have more mods. I bought the SLP y-pipe when my car was basically stock and didn't notice any gains. I did heads/cam and shorty headers, so I felt I could justify modifying my y-pipe. I welded in a flowmaster merge collector and direct replacement magnaflow/carsound high flow cats. I figured at this point my cats had finally become a restriction, since I had done everything but the cats.
