Your converter, lower gears and shiftkit should be considered POWER mods.
Now that's a complete load of bull if I ever heard one.
Most high stall converters cause a car to loose MPH. MPH = HP
A shift kit makes absolutely no horsepower at all.
And a change from 3.23s to 3.42 making horsepower? You really don't know much about cars, do you?
These things make a car quicker not faster.

Thank you. You are running traps of 12.1 @ 111 from a convertor and gears that I dont have. So you just proved your own point worthless since you attributeed the sole cause of your higher mph b/c of the lid. Convertor + gears make car faster, thus higher trap.
Again for those that don't know. Converter and gears make a car quicker NOT faster.

Really only the headers ... but I don't remember discussing weight last time, it does appear that I'm carrying about 150 lbs more in race weight ... more than enough to offset the headers. Do you know what the D/A was when you ran that mph??

By the way a properly designed and efficient TC will give you more MPH. That's part of Mike's sales pitch for the 9" TCs, such as the ST3500 and now the SS series ... thier efficiency and top end pull - I recently stepped up to TCS 9" 3800 stall and picked up 2 mph at the top ...

This thread is about a lid vs FIPK not about argueing at one another. If you wanna argue back and forth then send pm's to one another all week long.

my car picked up more sotp power from the free ram-air mod than the lid. imo, the fipk has an advantage over just a lid because it isn't breathing through that thin, little slot beneath the stock airbox's filter. open up the bottom of that box though (free ram-air mod, ftra, slp cai, ssra) and you get most of that back.

what you want is an airbox that doesn't go very negative in pressure at wot. i feel that a good cai/lid will do that as well as the fipk. the benifits of the lid/cai (or real ram-air) combo is that you get real cold air all the time, or so it would seem.

That's what we are discussing ... Al runs a SSRA w/lid and I run a FIPK ... The cars are pretty close mod for mod ... enough so that you can make a rationalization of the performance of the SSRA/Lid vs the FIPK based on the performance of the two vehicles ... all and all, things pretty much shake out to be equal ... we're refining and focusing the discussion ...

That holds, only if you make an incorrect assumption that the FIPK is getting something other than ambient air - there is no such thing as real cold air.

Besides if you believe in the benifit of the 2 inch by 14 inch opening of the !FRA .. try the 2foot by 14 inch opening of removing the washer reservior and shroud ...

in slow traffic it is getting a fair amount of underhood air. that has to be warmer than ambient.

it isn't just the opening of the shroud for the fra, it is the opening of the bottom of the airbox, too. besides, i don't want to remove my washer reservior.

I had the K&N for a while, and while it sounded cool and dyno'd ok with the hood up, it didn't perform at the track and my IAT temps were up. I switched to a lid and have been happy since.

I am curious to know if those higher IAT temps were at the track and daily driving, or just at the track?

If you are in line waiting for your run, the engine bay will heat up and the FIPK may draw in hotter air. But if you keep the hood up and let the hot air out the problem could be eliminated?

Its just an idea.

I bought a TSP clear smoked lid, but while it was being shipped to me, I decided on an FIPK. So if anyone wants a good deal on the lid & filter, let me know ;]
