just curious how many here use there LS1 as daily drivers?
last I checked, I pay the note and insurance for a reason.. hehe
So far the car has been sweet.. Only the speaker behind the driver has gone out.. Taking it to the shop next week for that.
I feel the car is fairly reliable and trust it to take me whereever I wish to go! hehe

I used both of my LS1s as daily drivers, I traded my 98 Camaro Z28 in w/ 114,000 miles on a 01 Trans Am WS6 which now has 35,000 miles in less than a year. I average between 35-40k per year between my 40 mile daily commute to and from work, 50 mile commute to and from school, 40 mile commute to and from the drag strip (when I still lived in Orlando) and 2,600 mile commute back and forth from Michigan to Florida. I drove the Camaro form Orlando to New Orleans about 13 times (originally from N.O.) to Houston Texas about 5 times, MI 3 times, VA. 2 times and Missouri once, as well as made about 60-65 passes at Orlando Speed world (best time was 13.8 @ 103..even after 100k miles) I've made the Florida/MI commute in the TA twice, drove it to New Orleans 5 times and have made about 22 passes at OSW so far (13.5 @ 104) both cars were/are automatic and both were/are 100% dependable. I never had any major trouble with the Camaro, except for power window motors, an alternator, and squeaky pulleys. The TA has only been back to the dealer once for a new battery in 11 mos. and 35k miles, but does have the supposedly common piston slap in the morning and burns about 1qt. of oil per 3,000 miles. I'd definitely still buy another LS1, and I trust my car to go anywhere.
I have the stock alarm on my car and I drive it everyday.
It works too. I left my girlfriend in the car and locked her in. She stayed long enough for the light to go out and the power unlock didn't work, and when she manually unlocked it the alarm went off.

yes very dumb and bad mistake.
I've learned my lesson, replaced the stock shifter and more importantly adopted better hand positions/technique when shifting..Anways, the car screemed for half a second then shut down when i pushed the clutch in.. kinda earie going 100 mph without the engine on..
anways, i started the car back up and the engine sounded rough, and the SES light popped on.
The enigne might have revved up 8000+ rpms that split second.
Guess how far the drive back home was?
160 miles!
Keeping it about 1500 rpms the whole way back (which thanks to the 6th gear is actually about 65 mph) I made it back!. The pushrods had to be replaced, the valves had to be replaced, and teh heads needed to be repaired.
Everything was put back together and it runs perfect, 30,000 miles later.. with all the abuse I put it thru (no more misshifts thoguh lol)
This car amazes me!
