FYI: 93-97 rearend swap to a 98+ car

OK, here we go, My 99 6M was grinding real bad so I began searching for a new one. After many hours of search I found 2 rearends one from a 94 6M and a 99 6M. The question was will the 94 rearend be a direct bolt in? The answer is not quite, the pre 99's had the ABS sensor on the top of the diff. and the 98+ cars has the ABS located on each wheel. Now some 94+ cars had this but I am told that is rare. The 94 rearend will bolt in but your car will code out on the ABS. You can however swap all the internals to make it work. Also the 98+ cars do not have a hole on the top to mount the older ABS sensor making a 98+ rearend almost impossible to mount into a 93-97. Hope this helps!

The average going prices for (used) rearends in Central Texas (depending on the miles of course):

93-97= $400 to $600
98+ = $700 to $900

Actually, many 98+ cars have the single ABS sensor on the top. It depends on whether or not the car is equipped with traction control. If it has traction control, there will be two ABS sensors on each side of the rear end, if it doesn't have traction control there will be a single sensor on the top of the differential. On my T/A I have the single one, as I don't have traction control. So when buying a rear-end you simply need to make sure you both have or don't have traction control.

Sorry I prolly shoulda said this on your post a while back but I forgot

rear end for sale

LS1 SS rear with brand new Motive Performance 3.73s installed in it and a TA Girdle with calipers (would be good brake update for lt1). I didn't get a chance to install it so maybe the new owner will. It came from 99 Camaro SS with 30000 miles on.

I bought if for $350 brake calipers from a guy in my state. Than I spent $600 on it with professional instalation. Got all receits, can get you some pictures. Never even put it in my car yet. The only reason I would consider selling this rear end is that i found out that it will not fit right away my 95 z-28. Also, I put in cc306, with which 4.10 is a much better choise. I want to sell this rear end by taking some loss, and get 4.10 rear end. If you are interested, write me back. I live in 60115. Looking to get around $600 obo.

Tomas
