fuel pump install ?

i have a customer that has a 2000 camaro ss . he brought in a holley 12-914 fuel pump for me to install. i have the tank out and the factory pump has a small (1/16) size line comming off the top of the pump. what is it for? can i just install the holley pump and leave that one off? the car has a 402 stroker, nitrous, and a 6-sp in it.

thanks
mike

Let's try this on the LSx forum... more likely someone there will know the function of the extra line. The LSx fuel systems are dead-ended pressure control, and I'm not sure where the bypass line is located in the system.

i'm not 100% sure but i believe that is for the venturi system...the only pump that i know of that continues to use that is the racetronix, which is why i put that one in my car

i have no idea how to disable it properly

yep that's the fuel bucket fill line and if you don not use it the car will run out of gas all the time unlessit's topped off.

If he insists on using that pump then you'll have to put holes into the bottom of the fuel bucket so that the pump will have access to some fuel.
Recommend that he takes the Holley pmp back and get a Racetronics pump for the 99 and up f-body. It has the extra orifice for the fuel bucket fill.

Re: fuel pump install ?

that is ^ what it was . that line went to the screen on the bottom of the module. i called holley tech that morning , they said it would work with some simple mods. all i did was cut 2 holes in the bottom of the bucket. 1 where the other screen was and a matching 1 on the other side . the screen on the pump sits right above them. when i started the car it was almost on the reserve mark and it ran fine . plus the pump is quiet.thought i would give a update

The only problem with that is that now your fuel bucket is non functional.
The idea of having the bucket is that when your fuel is low and you pull a high gee manouver or drag strip launch that the pump has the fuel in the bucket to run the car during the time when the fuel is sloshed away from the pump. They went to this style in 99 because many many 98 fuel pumps burned up from fuel starvation.
Warn the customer that he now needs t keep at least 1/4 tank of gas in his car at all times.
