with a weak cam like the one kraest has no need to worry if everything is set up right.

I don't believe there is a magic point where the springs go bad either, but I can also see where more agressive lobe profiles will wear springs down quicker even with springs designed for the lift.

Of course... the more power = the more wear on the motor... That's why you get a nasty set of springs The lobe profile is somewhere in between an XE-R and an LSK.

Check out my vids in the other thread to see how the cam responds to the go-go pedal.

just curious, but in your first post you mentioned the car pulls all the way to the 6800, and later said that peak hp/tq occur around 62-6300; does tuning the car after the cam swap, (and in my case what will be a cam/head swap) help you determine what the redline for the engine should be and what the rev limiter is set at?

The shift points on any car should be a few hundred RPM after the car makes peak horsepower... and sometimes even more as long as the car is still making the same amount of power and hasn't severely dropped off.

but how do you determine its safe to run the engine that fast on the stock bottom end after doing the modifications? is anything different? just dont want to blow the engine up after doing the work...obviously..

As long as you have the years with the good rod bolts, you will be fine.

To my knowledge, the cars that came with the 241 heads also came with the better oil pump and rod bolts. Some 2000 cars, but all 01+.
