Question ticking noise...

in the mornings and after the car sets for a while i go to start it and it ticks until it gets warmed up i know a few things it could be but...the question is ...im puting a cam in the car along with springs and hardened pushrods should i maybe but a set of lifters and or sone rocker arms or see if it quits after the springs are in im hoping the rockers just need adjusting . the car has 100k + miles on it but i was just wanting some input on what my options are and how to handel it because now im broke and i want it to be fixed before it messwes something else up....thanks

The ticking you are hearing is more than likely piston slap which is common in the LS based engines. The rockers are non- adjustable and are torqued to 22 ft lbs period . If I were you and you are thinking of changing the heads and cam, I would buy new lifters and a new oil pump. It wouldn't make any sense not to change them out while you have it apart seeing that they have 100,000 miles on them .
