What clutch are you using?
Using the Ram Powergrip HD. Nice clutch with nice engagement.

Remember my 396 LT1? That thing was parked in my driveway for about a year and a half after I broke the oil pump driveshaft.

Allan "snuck" me in, so the car has really been finished for over a week, but I've been waiting for Cam Motion to grind the cam the entire time....their CNC machine went coo-coo and needed to be fixed.

That was the main holdup.

I think that was before I joined here. The first car I remember was your heads+cam Vette.

wasn't it one of the first 396 LTx engines on the board. pretty cutting edge if i remember correctly.

then you got into the habit of buying/selling when the oil got dirty...or when the wiper fluid got low...which ever came first

Yep. I had that car for around 4 years.. That's the longest I've ever owned the same car IIRC.

Whats the spring life like with a high lift cam?

I've been thinking about going w/a Cam motion grind when I do my 6L swap which may end up being a 408 swap (still undecided).

Good springs will last tens of thousands of miles. I don't believe the hype of changing springs every 15-20k on an aftermarket cam buildup... It's a hydraulic roller afterall and this isn't 1930 when cars needed a full rebuild after 15,000-20,000 miles.
