Why are you worried about warranty on a car that will be 8 years old in a month? Besides, if you can handle a cam swap, you can fix almost anything that would go wrong with the car.

I don't think I would have the patients (sp?) to do a cam swap on the car. I'd probably just take it to a shop for the work.

Its not hard on an LS1, you need hand tools, and a free saturday. Besides, its fun

And as an added bonus, the money saved on labor can go to other things, like those headers you will want, or gears. Both of which I would do first by the way...

Doesn't it involve removing the front clip? I guess I could see that as being pretty easy. I'd just be scared of scratching a bearing while removing/installing the cam though.

Nope, no front clip removal. You gotta pull the radiator and have a friend carefully lift the AC condenser out of the way. As far as scratching a bearing, just go slow, keep it steady and keep spinning it. Use 3 waterpump bolts to go in the cam, they will act as a handle.
