Why a stock idle? To sneak up on unsuspecting victims who think lopey idling cams are all it. lol IMO its much better than the guys buying cams based on how they lope.

Plus the -overlap of a smooth idling cam is great for FI.

Nervous idle as in a slight fast lope. Sounds kind of like a small miss or studder.

I soooooooooooo agree. It's really disenheartening to an old gear head like me to hear someone say:" I want to put a cam in my car so that it sounds mean."
The only good reason to change a cam is to increase power or to move the power band. Sound and lump are the side effects.

F that. You want no lope? Drive a bicycle.

Re: Anybody running a Cheatr or Old man cam?

Don't need lope to be fast. Set up is the key. I was just at a dyno day where a 68-69 Chevelle put down 520 whp and didn't have much lope or a loud exhaust, and a Cobra that did 500 w/no lope at all.

Speaking of bicycles, I was driving a 70 SS with a lopey idle while you were still riding one to school.

Not exactly. I have been pondering a complete LS6 topend swap though. Cam choice is pending.
