My 98 has 77,000 miles on it, and has no problems with piston slap or oil consumption. The engine runs great, and is still as strong as brand new. Mobil 1 5w/30 ever since it rolled off the showroom.

The problems it has right now... warped rotors... window motors, and a headlight motor. Pretty much everything on the car other than those items and the tires is still what came on the car from the factory.

I don't have to worry about leaking t-tops since I have a hardtop.

 

my '98 z28 has 41,800 miles...

-power steering fluid mysteriously lost fluid
-no leaks found though it was pressure tested by gm

-steering feels loose. in the center position i can wiggle the wheel back and forth before i feel the wheels turn.

-coolant in reservoir also was lost somewhere along the way. replaced and flushed fluid.

-when i got wot i seem to lose oil sometimes.

-noisy cold start ups..think it's the pulleys or something

other than that it feels great. i really love this car, oh i forgot...squeaky brakes.
