No kidding... at least KNOW YOUR COMPETITION, guys! I figure there are RX-7 drivers all over asking what a cylinder even is.

Thumbs down

This notion that Camaros are unreliable is ridiculous. I've seen 4th gen f-bodies with 300,000+ miles still running strong. You never hear of LS1 guys or even LT1 guys blowing their engines yet I know three people who blew their little piece of crap Integra VTech motors. To compare an Integra to a V8 f-body is an insult. I mean our "V8" f-bodies were built for racing. An Integra is a wannabe sports coupe and nothing more. Don't get me worng, it seems like a nice daily beater but it is by no means a real performance car. Its FWD for crying out loud.

My friends 2000 Acura Integra Type R has been in the shop like five freaking times already and he only bought the car with 15,000 miles on it like two months ago.

Now American cars in general are probably less reliable than Japanese and German cars but not American V8 automobiles.

A "V8" f-body, a Corvette, a "V8" Mustang.....their all high end American cars. You can't compare a Chevy Cavalier to Chevy Z28, a Pontiac Sunfire to a Pontiac TransAm.

The 5.7 litre LS1 V8 engine is one of the greatest performance engines ever made and it gets better gas milage then most Japanese and German 6 cylinder motors.

So I don't buy into that old 1970s era all American cars are unreliabe theory.

I think its pretty funny.. If you have enough desperation to do a motorswap, remove your entire interior, and drive around with no a/c, stereo, or rear seats and only run high 12's or low 13's.. Then of course an import possibly could beat a v8 Camaro.. But... is it really worth it to go through all that.. buying the motor, swapping it, and riding with such discomfort.. to only beat bolton camaro's? I mean.. cuz with all that at most your only running a few tenths faster than a stock camaro z28.. Maybe if it only costed like 3-4k after motorswap and all... But damn.. You can buy low-mid 13 lt1's for like 5k-8k now adays. I'd just be laughing as I watch the stripped low hp import doing very little damage.. with the sweat pouring off of his face and his girlfriend sitting on a milk crate in the car.. with his 100lbs of added ground effects, spoilers, shiftlights, and fart pipe..

Man where do I start?I have a 94 Z/28 LT1 car, unfotunately I can't aford an LS1 car, yet.I think what is happening is most of these kids are going to the track and seeing full on race imports running low E.T.'s.As one of u mentioned these are striped down race cars. They wrongly asume their street car imports are fast. There is nothing like handing them their *** in front of their girl. What makes it even better is the fact that I'm also a chick,in my bone stock, nearly 100,000 mile 94 Z/28.I have beaten (in the stop light grand prix)s2000's,mr2's,vw's,acuras etc..The thing that amazes me is that most people with mustangs seem to stay far away for me,like they know better. The guys with the imports though seem to be relentless even though they always get beat and always by alot.So yes you will smoke this guy,no question. And another thing these cars(imports)have zero heritage,I mean their whole reason for being is that they are economy cars period. Not performance cars.My son is 16 and thanx to mine and my boyfreinds enthusiasm, he wants a camaro when he gets a license.I will have to get him a 6cyl.car,do to obvious insurance reasons but told him not to fear a procharger can help.I have turned around most of his freinds too, with the exception of 1 or 2 who like the decals of the imports,go figure,u can't win them all,but I try to do my part.F-BODIES RULE

Actually, a lot of LS1's have blown. Faulty oil pumps among other problems in earlier cars wreaked havoc on the motors, including my 98 T/A. Since the rebuild, 85k and going strong.

It is kinda off, but i guess it's b/c it was conserning an LS1. Personaly Those cars aren't an f-body competitor, only integra i've seen in the 13's had just a drivers seat. Never been to anctious to race a vtec, unless it's in a del sol or something (sounds funny but just think of putting a ~200 hp motor in a go-cart). All i can say is practice luanching, anyone can shift a car at redline, but getting good 60's can dicide a race against a vette or a neon (well maybe not that bad). Not only practice launching, but you need to become a cocky LS1 driver as everyone says we are .

Re: 2000 LS1 vs. VTech Integra

I am reviving an old topic here, because I just got an 02 SS & had a 98 Integra GS-R about 7 or 8 years ago. The GS-R is fast for what it is, but no way should it ever pretend to be anywhere in the same ballpark (performance wise) as an LS1. EVER!!
