weird thing i saw

weird thing i saw

so i was at auto zone, and i noticed on a very large picture of an engine (with a very fast glance) that there were 2 camshafts inside of one of the heads, along with a gear and a chain. am i seeing what i thought i saw?

What kind fo engine? There were several twin cam engines built over the years

That would be a DOHC (dual overhead camshaft) engine. Commonly used in European and Japanese engines, becoming more frequently used in US-made engines. The Mustang Cobra V8 engine has been DOHC since 1996. There are also SOHC (single overhead camshaft) engines.... again the Mustang V8 (non-Cobra) has been SOHC since 1996.

The SBC is one of the last holdouts using pushrod operated valves for high performance engines. Most people who don't understand consider the LSx family of engines "outdated" because they still rely on the pushrod design. Of course most of those people are looking at the rear bumper of the LSx vehicles, as the leave them in the dust.

well thanks a lot guys i thought i was seeing things lol. I NEVER even thought you could stick camshafts in heads lmao. wow. ill stick to my pushrods and RR's thanks.

They aren't exactly 'in the heads'.... they sit on top of the heads.
