Tranny Fluid in coolant

Hey guys I just bought a 97 Z. I thought it was running hot so I took it to have it looked at and they said I have transmission fluid in my raditor and that it needs a new water pump. I was gonna attempt to replace the radiator and water pump myself. But how would I go about flushing out that tranny fluid ? And do I need to have my transmission flushed out now as well ? The car has 43k miles on it. They wanna charge me 1100 bucks to fix the problem is that fair or can I do this job myself and be able to get that tranny fluid out. Thanks for any advice

A shop is going to have to perform the tranny flush. They have a machine that will completely flush the fluid till it becomes clear.

How much mechanical experience do you have?

The waterpump and radiator you should be able to do yourself.

Trans flush should be done by a shop.

$1100 to me is crazy.

Thanks guys I just ordered all the parts gonna try and do it. The car is running way to hot about 245 is that most likely due to the tranny fluid in the coolant or do I have yet another problem maybe ?

I wouldn't drive it around if the coolant gets in your tranny it will ruin it.

instead of replacing the radiator it might be cheeper to flush it out and also the trans lines in the radiator cap them off and run it like that. use external trans cooler.
