Post Tranny dipstick --- stuck (on a wrecked car)

I went to the body shop yesterday to unload my Hypertech tuning from the computer and unlock my programmer so it's ready to be used on my next set of wheels.

I had lost tranny fluid during transit and I wanted to check the level on the dipstick. (just curious if all the fluid had drained out)

Well, when I popped the hood, I realized that the motor had shifted slightly down and to the passenger side.

When I tried to pull the tranny dipstick, it wouldn't budge.

So ... what's the verdict? State Farm still hasn't decided if they are going to total it or repair it. If they decide to try and repair it, I want to be able to tell them a bunch of reasons to go ahead and total it out.

What could cause the tranny to grab the dipstick and not let go?

If I had to guess the dipstick on the wrecked car could be pinched between the body and cowl, but I highly doubt it. Most likely therubber sealon the top of the dipstick is swollen, causing your concern. Just pull the hell out of it and it should break free, if it doesnt try shifting it back and fourth, it should come out. Hope this helps

Would it help if you put a flame on the tranny dipstick to loosen it up, or a heat gun?

Well, I could actually pull it out about an inch ... just enough to clear the 0-rings.

But, it doesn't matter ... they declared the car a total loss today.

My white WS6 was already sold when i got there, the Black WS6 was a rebuilt title, and the Pewter Z28 was just strange and it gave me a bad vibe.

So ... still looking!
