Tie Rods, Easy to remove from steering rack?

Ok so heres the scoop. The car was in a bit of an accident, and the steering rod and end snapped right off the knuckle so i was wondering. Instead of just getting a whole new rack, is it easy to just remove one of those rods? Driver side if that makes any difference.

Any and all help is appreciated, going to get parts tmrw and dont want to buy the whole rack if i dont have to.

Re: Tie Rods, Easy to remove from steering rack?

Everything pretty much unscrews - unscrew outer tie rod, remove boot (requires boot clamp tool to crimp new clamp on), unscrew inner tie rod. But the factory manual indicates you have to remove the rack to get the inner tie rod off the rack assembly, and the rack teeth have to be stabilized to prevent damage.

Might be best to pull the rack, and take it to a shop that has the right tools.

All tools needed are in my shop, not a problem. and i did read that it needs to be stabilized but everyone else has said they have done it without issue not stabilizing it.
