Rubber or aluminium intake elbow?

Hi,
I am about to replace the intake elbow on my car,it has a slight tear where it connects to the throttle body and I would like to replace it with an elbow that does away with the resonator pipe.
I'm not sure wether to get a rubber 1LE elbow or go for an aluminium elbow. The aluminium one will obviously get a little hot under the hood, will this affect the air intake temperature much?
The 1LE elbow is $80 and the aluminium part is $50,which one would you recommend?
Thanks,Mark.

You can't go wrong with either one, but your prices are backwards. The 1LE elbow will run you around 50 bucks and an aluminum elbow will be around 80. Not much difference between the two other then appearance.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply "2000GTP",did a search on E-bay and the aluminium part from CRT performance is only $50,the only rubber ILE elbow I could find on there was $80,shipping is the same amount for either at $25.I think I'll go with the CRT part, also is it worth getting one of those air-foils to go with it?CRT sell one for $35 and it includes a new throttle body lid gasket.
Do these air-foils really free up 6hp as advertised or is it just a gimmick?
All the best,Mark.

I've seen some dyno results where air foils helped pick up another 5hp so it is up to you. It isn't enough where you will feel it when nailing the throttle. Considering that some of the competitors sell them for 50 bucks, 35 for an airfoil is not to shabby I guess depending on the quality.

Hi,
The air-foil I've been looking at is die-cast polished aluminum and the intake elbow is aluminum which has then been powder coated black and comes with all the clamps and rubber sleeves,it will just need a small hole drilling in it to accept the opti-spark vent pipe.As I mentioned both these products are made by a company called CRT performance and both look like they are decent quality.
I think I'll treat myself to both, especially as my girlfriend will be paying.LOL.
Well she keeps asking me what I want for Christmas!!
Anyway thanks for your input "2000GTP",many thanks,Mark.
