radiator fan not turning on
radiator fan not turning on
Subject: '95 Camaro with 3.4L V6
Problem: electric radiator fan not coming on
Things I tried:
1) jumpered fan relay and fan comes on
2) swapped in known good relay and fan does not come on, relay isn't bad
3) checked for power at relay, good 12 volts
4) checked for ground at relay, no ground with engine at 235°F
5) jumpered ECT sensor and fan came on, maybe bad ECT?
6) replaced ECT sensor and fan still doesn't come on on it's own
7) selecting A/C on will turn fan on
I'm about to hard wire the fan but I really don't want to do that. Any ideas?

i am talking about the sender sensor for computer. you have placed the ect for gauge . the sender is on the passenger side head? coorect me if wrong the one you replaced is on the lower intake some were? do you have a scanner to read data? if do start it and see coolant temp see fan switch in scanner. call part store for location on fan switch sender computer. hit be back if you solve it or any more ???????? i will check at work for possible daig.
I used my rheostat to simulate 228° at the computer and the fan worked fine so.......I fixed the problem by "adjusting" the factory gauge. It was way off. This is how I did it.
I used my rheostat again and simulated 160° at the gauge sensor then pulled the needle off the temp gauge and set it to 160° (it's lowest scale). This set up all temps above 160° to a much more accruate reading.
Fan now comes on at a reasonable temp reading on the gauge. Before it would go all the way to readline and not have the fan on. It wasn't overheating, the gauge was just plain wrong.
