Re: question

All the 93-02 rears are interchangeable except on 98+ they won't go on 93-97 due to the brake set up...just make sure the one you have has TCS if you have it and its a 2 or 3 channel ABS, again depending on what you have.

Re: question

The "sensor" is for the ABS system. Since its a single sensor on the pumpkin, you have a 3-channel ABS ONLY rear axle assembly. If your 96 does not have traction control (4-channel), it will work. You may not have a match on the gear ratio, though.

Re: question

Well I don't believe it will work then if you have TCS and the rear you have doesn't. I'm guessing it won't have the proper sensors in it. Someone else may be able to give more info.

Then if you install the 94-95 3-channel rear assembly in your car, you will lose TCS and probably ABS. You would have to swap backing plates and reluctor gears to make it work.

Re: question

That diff will work for you. All you have to do is make sure and use your original axles, which will have reluctor rings on them behind the hub where the wheel bolts on. The axles in the "donor" diff won't have those reluctor rings. The ABS/TCS sensors are built into the brake calipers I believe, so the TCS should still work on your car. I know that my buddy did the same swap on his '96 T/A that originally had TCS, and it still works.

Also, diffs from '93 - '97 and '98 - '02 ARE compatible, you just have to swap the backing plates for the brakes.

the 4 channel rear ABS sensors are in the backing plates/mounting brackets, so, swap those and the axles, and all is well
