Posessed Door Locks!
Posessed Door Locks!
Hey Guys I posted this in the General F-body lounge and no one really responded. My door locks are going nuts, They work fine from my keyless entry. I can lock, unlock , pop the hatch, and panic all day long. However, when im in the car i can only UNLOCK with the the button on either door. I cannot lock the doors from the buttons (either Door). Then im just sitting there or driving, my door locks go nuts and start locking themselves. While im driving I'll press unlock then the car will lock its self right back up. In any event, i can only lock the car with the transmitter. I need some advice if you have any ideas at all, drop me a line please...Thx
Re: Posessed Door Locks!
Is there a relay for the door locks? If there is check that out first. Then if that doesn't solve anything take the door panel off and check the wiring to the switches. Other then that i have no clue.
Im having problems with my door locks also. Only the drivers side door will unlock via both switches. The drivers side door wont lock with the switches and the passenger side door wont lock or unlock via the switches. Ive already replaced the door lock actuators inside the doors. As far as a relay, the only thing that I have found out from checking out wiring diagrams that could be a relay for the door locks is the BCM(Body Control Module). Both door lock actuators have only 2 wires going to them, meaning something has to switch the current flowing through the wires to either "unlock" or "lock" the doors. Hopefully someone else out there has been through this and can help us out.
Re: Posessed Door Locks!
Mine did that too....I'd be driving down the road and it would lock itself. Then if I went to the mall or something...I'd lock the door. When I came out...the car had unlocked itself. Then one time I left the car running with the windows up...ran into my friend's house...and when I came out it had locked itself up. Did it for a month straight...drove me nuts! Then it stopped and never happened again. No idea what causes it. I believe these cars have reverse polarity door locks...so it'd be really hard to just have a wiring problem where they were shorting out or there was an intermittent open. No idea...but mine hasn't done it in like a year.
