LS1 and oil leaks....

I have noticed that nobody ever complains about their LS1 leaking oil, like many LT1 owners do. They are obviously much less prone to leaks. My question is, what is the most likely place an LS1 would leak. Have any of you ever had an LS1 that leaked oil. Guess I'm just looking for feedback. I am very happy with mine.

Re: LS1 and oil leaks....

My 2000 Z28 had some seepage from the front and rear seals, but that's about it. Noticed it at about 70K miles.

Never had to add any oil between oil changes (5-7K miles). Never had drops on the garage floor, either.

It has come to my knowledge that generally(and I'll use the term loosely) that LT1s leak oil, and LS1s consume oil. Please everyone, don't jump down my throat about how your lt1 never leak or your ls1 never consumed any oil, that just seems to be the way it is when I read posts on these sites.

No visible leaks, no drips, but I do smell baked oil coming from the fresh air vent on startup. Very minor, but there may be some seepage somewhere. Car has less that 40K miles.

Re: LS1 and oil leaks....

My 97 LT1 with 67,000 miles had leaks from four places at the same time!

All leaks are fixed for now, but who knows how long.

Ahhh, the famous rear pinion seal...

I bought my 00 w/35K miles on it and it already had signs of seepage. After reading all the horror stories about the fix gone bad, I decided to leave it alone and it was still going strong @83K miles when I sold it.

No signs of that, yet, on my 99.
