How in the world do I turn off my wiper mist? Driving hazard please help!

I've tried every setting, whenever I turn on my wipers it mists my windshield. This is a problem because its getting cold and y windshield doesn't have a chance to dry at all, I can barely see anything. My defroster works great its definitely nothing on the inside. Oh and I have a 99 z28. This is my first car so I don't know if I'm missing a problem with the settings or something, are they supposed to go on when you twist it to the high, low, or delay setting? They only go on when I push the little push tab on the top of the stick.

What only goes on when you push the tab? The wipers? The tab on top of the "stalk" is the wiper wash switch. If you don't push that then they shouldn't spray. If that is the only way to get your wipers to come on then you might have a defective switch. The switch is part of the whole stalk.

I would price out that switch to see how much it is. If you have the know how you can trouble shoot the switch first.

Since this is your first car, why not take the time to read the owners manual to see the correct operation of the wipers. If you don't have the owners manual you can find a copy at Rob's site shbox.com

After you do that please post what's going on. We'll try to help...

Its not supposed to go on without pressing the tab that u described. Have u tried pulli g the tab back towards u in case the return spring is no longer working.

Odds are u will need to just replace the entire stalk...but till then try easy things.

And yeah...take a minute to research proper use of vehicle equiptment, for ur own safety.

If the washers are continually spraying, creating a visibility problem, to temporarily solve the problem, unplug the washer pump harness connector. Open your hood, look straight down at the big white plastic reservoir in front of the radiator, and the washer pump is pushed into the top/front of the reservoir. Pull the connector off the pump. No more washer fluid spraying on the windshield.
