Header Bolt recommendations
#2
My MACs came with copper gaskets. I used them and have had no problems with leaks. I used 3/8" x 1" 16 tpi stainless allen socket bolts. I've checked them once in a while but found they're always tight. I think it's important to use 1" long bolts as most leaks seem to happen when using the 3/4" bolts. Also, since the MAC (mine are about 4 years old) headers don't have a one piece head flange the alignment with the exhaust ports could be disturbed by careless handling during shipping. Check it by holding the new exhaust gasket against the flange and adjust if necessary. Use a soft hammer to adjust the socket for the slip fit cylinder #1 tube to be a very snug fit. I used a small band clamp on that tube and some Permatex "Ultra Copper" (#101BR) on the tube before sliding it in. Good Luck.

Re: Header Bolt recommendations
I bought a set of the ARP 1" with the 5/16" 12 pt head. Will be putting them in with the new motor and a set of Kooks LT. From reading alot of posts they seem to work well and the extra lenght may help to prevent loosening.

Re: Header Bolt recommendations
i've had the stage 8 locking bolts in my 93 for the last 10+ yrs. No problems with them backing out from the heat cycles. Just make sure to check them after a few heat cycles to make sure its still on good to prevent leaks.
