Fuel Pump won't shut off

91 Firebird 305 TBI

Did search and found every other issue with fuel pump but this one.

No alterations of anything on car - stock. Changed fuel pump about year ago.

Changed oil today and cranked it to let oil get flowing. Shut it off and fuel pump kept running. Disconnected battery and reconnected and the fuel pump started back up. Figured it was the relay so I changed it - same thing. Right now I have the fuse out of it (by the battery).

Any ideas why the fuel pump would stay on?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Fuel Pump won't shut off

Sounds like your oil pressure sending unit. The fuel pump runs through this so if there is a failure, the pump will shut off and the motor will not keep running. This is actuall a common problem.

Re: Fuel Pump won't shut off

It worked ok when I shut the engine off at work today. Thought I was going to have to change the ign switch.
