New owner here, and it almost went up in flames a week after I bought it. The previous owner had recently replaced the water pump and Opti, and he must have moved the fuel lines out of the way and inadvertently leaned them on the exhaust manifold. I noticed it when I was diagnosing a bad MAF sensor, so I moved them. There was damage to the loom, but I hoped the lines were okay. Well that wasn't the case and when I cranked her up after replacing the sensor, fuel was spraying everywhere. I guess when I moved them it broke. I have a new (used) set of lines coming later this week. The service manual shows them routed through the strut tower, behind the inner fender and down under the driver's seat where they connect to the hard lines. My question is, do I have to remove the whole inner fender to install them, or can I take a few fasteners out and move it out of the way?
The service manual gives these instructions for removing the fuel lines. It says to reposition the left front inner wheel house panel whatever that means. If the early 4th generation Camaros are like the later models, it only has a few plastic Xmas tree fasteners and a couple of screws holding it in place and then the whole panel can be easily be removed from the car.
The fuel line bundle should be held up off the exhaust components by a plastic ring clamp that pushes into the side of the plastic throttle body cable quadrent cover. Very common for that plastic ring clamp to get broken off. I ran a heavy duty black nylon cable tie through the hole in the TB cover from he back, looped it around the fuel line bundle, and pushed the end back through the cover and made the connection. The connector bulk and the extra strip of tie sticking out was large enough to prevent it from pulling out of the cover.
If your car is missing the TB cover, probably have to get one in a salvage yard.
It's that vague statement in step 7 that says "reposition the liner" that I was kind of wondering about... I'm probably overthinking it. Once the part comes in and I get in there and start taking things apart I'm sure it won't be a big issue.
I've been looking at images on line and I definitely don't have the circular black plastic cover near the throttle body, but there is a different "square" shaped plastic cover next to the intake plenum that I don't see in the pics. Maybe it's different year to year? Either way, I will definitely have to look into securing the fuel lines safely so this doesn't happen again.

Looks like the panel is hold in place by 9 screws and then it should just drop down. Whether you let it rest on front spindle assembly or remove it from the wheel well altogether depends on you. I would agree with you, the description is not real helpful.
I've had the inner fender liner out, and I don't recall any difficulties. Long time ago, but I can't find any scars on my hands, so couldn't have been too difficult.
I looked at the 1996 factory service manual, and the "accelerator cable shield" (correct name) is shown in Figure 21286 on page 6E-862. Same as what was on my 1994. Can't give you a picture because mine is long gone due to aftermarket throttle body, replacing the nylon fuel lines with braided SS, and relocating the fuel lines to come up at the rear of the engine, directly into the modified fuel rails.
If the black cover you are referencing is sitting over the driver's side valve cover, that would be the traction control servo, which was optional, not on all vehicles. Was not available on my 94.

It does have the ASR traction control, and now that you mention it, I recall it saying something along those lines on the black cover I described. I don't have the accelerator cable shield in place on my car. I'll have to see if I can locate one. Appreciate the links and snapshots. Service manual is downloaded.
Upon my initial search of the forums, I did see some pics (could've been your car Injuneer) showing the braided SS lines being relocated. Seems like a better set up than what the factory did!
