Engine swap

I wrecked my 95 Trans am and i am looking for another one to switch my engine, trans and rearend into. My engine is new and the rearend has less than 2000 miles on it so i want to reuse them. What year car would be the easiest to switch everything into as far as wiring (obd1 vs obd2). I guess what i am asking is what would it take to put the 95 engine into a 93,94 or 96,97 car. Also is it possible to put the lt1 in a 98+ trans am. I know that is just the opposite of what everyone else is doing but this is a new 600 rwhp engine and i really want to reuse it. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is the front "cradle" (K-member) intact? If so, the mechanical part of the swap in a 93-97 car is fairly simple. You could even start with a V6 chassis. The entire front cradle, including the engine, trans, and front suspension can be dropped and swapped in. You would use your current wiring harness and PCM. The main interface problems tothe chassis are the differences in the body connectors on various years. Shoebox has a summary of the connector pinouts on all years:

http://shbox.com/1/harness_connector_faces.htm

Putting the engine in a 98+ chassis will present a problem with the fuel system, not insoluble. The 98 and up cars have a dead-end, non-vacuum compensated fuel system, operating at 58psi, as opposed to the 93-97's recirculated, vacuum compensated, 43.5psi system. It would also probalby be easier to swap the engine into a 98+ V8 chassis if you used the EFIConnection 24X conversion to the LS1 PCM.

Thanks for the info and link. The k member is fine the car was wrecked in the back. I am not to concerned about the mechanical side of the swap. I built the engine that is in it and installed it. It was just the wiring that had me worried. I will check out the link you provided. Thanks again
