knowing that the 160 tstat makes your car run allittle cooler. is it really neccisary to buy the 30 dollar t stat from slp or will the 10 dollar one from the auto parts store do the same job?

 

It will do the same job.

 

I'm guessing this would be for your LT1 right? Unless your auto parts stores there are stocked better than mine, you won't find a t-stat for an LT1/LT4. It's not the same as a gen 1 sbc.

 

Yup, same as mine. The auto parts store will tell you the one they have will work but it wont. I bought one from the autoparts store got home wasnt the right one so I returned it and ordered one from summit and it was here within 2 days.

exactly...lt1/4s are reverse cooled.

just make sure it's the correct stat

 

I too bought one from kragen when I got home and removed the old one, it wasnt' the same so I returned it and bought one from thunderracing.
Just spend the xtra 15 $$ and be safe.
