Post ?? questions about drag radials and a little more

Before the headers and the cam my car used to do consitently 2.0 60' with the street tires (A4) and it was nice back them , now I'm getting 2.1 and my car doesn't stop spinning until the end of 1st gear.

Someone let me used a set of DR on my car (the DRs where completely bald, they almost looked like slicks ) and my 60' remiended the same 2.1? WTF?

(here comes my dumb question, but I need to make sure ) does bald dr perform as good as new? (I hope not)

I would like to believe that if I buy a set of new Drag Radials I will get better tracttion. I'll be happy with a 1.7 or 1.8

If I don't have a TC and I launch at 1000 rpm will I have any issues with ET treet's? I can't afford a new rear end, I would like to stick (stick => literary) with drag radials

my new # are
13.46 @ 104.6 (2.1)
13.51 @ 104.7 (2.1)
compared to
13.77 @ 99.7 (2.0)
(I got 5mph with my new mods)
thanks

No bald or used tire will perform as well as new (street, DR or slick). When a tire gets that much use the oils in the rubber are dried out and the compound gets harder. I am not supprised that a worn set of DR did not work better than a good set of street tires. Assuming the streets were good with the 2.0 60'.

i ran a set of bfg dr's down to the cords and they hooked pretty friggin good.... only got 6-8 passes on em, but i think my best one was a 1.84. this is with eibach pro springs and a m6. there was more in the 60' too, i never did get them to break loose off the line. then i started running a pair of nitto's with the tread still on them... my best was a 1.95 60' and they spun every time.

I found with the BFG`s there is a sweet spot right at the end of the tread life but 20 or so passes after that the traction gets bad fast.MY best 60ft on the BFG`s was 1.66 and I have yet to match that with my et streets.

My experience has been that BFGs work the best just as the tread is disappearing.

What psi were you running in the BFGs?
